Troubleshooting

Resolve sign-in and upload problems

Recover from preparation, authorization and transfer errors without sending duplicate posts.

3 min read · Updated November 3, 2026

For blocked sign-in, a failed preparation or a transfer that seems stuck.

Identify the last confirmed milestone

Before retrying, read the visible phase and preserve the original file. A preview, verified preparation, completed byte transfer and published post are different milestones. The next recovery action depends on which one actually finished.

Keep the error message and the time of the attempt. You do not need to share account tokens, signed upload URLs or private credentials to describe the failure. For an interrupted transfer, do not assume that a missing success message proves TikTok received nothing.

Choose the recovery path

Follow the branch matching the actual message. Changing unrelated export settings can make it harder to understand whether a file, browser or service caused the original failure.

The file is rejected before preparation

Check
File type, size and whether the export is complete.
Next step
Use one finished MP4 or MOV within 2 GB. Keep the original and re-export from the project if the file is damaged.

The preview will not play

Check
Whether the same source plays locally, its codec, and browser support.
Next step
Try playback again after a pending seek settles. Test a separate compatible H.264 export if HEVC playback remains unavailable.

Sign-in or permission fails

Check
Popup blocking, selected account and the permission requested for this destination.
Next step
Authorize in the popup and return to the original video tab. Reconnect the same account.

Transfer or processing status is uncertain

Check
Existing upload status and whether bytes were already accepted.
Next step
Check status or use the offered resume action. Avoid starting another post while the original may still complete.

Preparation failure: keep the evidence narrow

A container can be unreadable even when its extension looks correct. Preparation also verifies the output; a failed verification should not be bypassed just to enable sending. If retry controls are available, retry the same known source before replacing it with a different export.

If the processing backend is unavailable, re-exporting the media will not repair that service. Keep the file and try again after the service is available. A codec-specific browser preview failure and a backend availability error need different responses.

Authorization failure: check identity and scope

Logging in identifies you. Inbox uploading and direct publishing require their own permissions. A profile in the navbar does not prove the selected destination is authorized. If the app requests permission again, review that request instead of assuming sign-in is broken.

The current video stays in the original tab while the popup completes. A different account can cause an identity mismatch. Demo preview is intentionally not a real connection and cannot be fixed by repeatedly pressing a send button.

Transfer complete does not mean posted

A status that says TikTok is processing is a reason to wait or query the existing task. It is not an instruction to submit the video again. An upload link can expire, and a retry may need the status information associated with the existing task.

For inbox delivery, open the mobile notification and finish posting. For direct publication, inspect the reported outcome. An error returned by TikTok is evidence about that request; it is not a generic diagnosis of the source’s sharpness or reach.

Before starting a replacement attempt

Confirm the prior task is finished or failed, or follow the specific resume path the interface offers. If you change the file, recognize that you are beginning a new preparation and posting review.

  • Original file retained outside the browser.
  • Last confirmed milestone and exact error recorded.
  • Correct account and posting permission checked.
  • Existing task status inspected before another send.
  • No verification failure silently treated as success.
