Check missing or unexpected audio
Separate a muted player, a silent file and an unfinished TikTok post.

Start with a local listening check
Open the exact selected source in a player you trust. Listen through the affected section using the intended output device. Check player mute, system volume, Bluetooth routing and headphones before deciding the track is missing.
Then compare the exported file with the editor timeline. If the timeline sounds correct but the export is silent, inspect track mute/solo settings, the export range and whether audio was included. Repeating preparation on the same silent export will not add a missing track.

Choose the symptom that matches
Use one controlled change at a time. A browser playback limitation, an export problem and a platform decision require different fixes.
There is no sound anywhere in the source file
- Check
- Whether a real audio track exists and the original recording contains sound.
- Next step
- Return to the recording or edit. Fulres cannot reconstruct audio that was not supplied.
The local export plays sound, but the browser preview does not
- Check
- Player mute, the chosen output device and browser codec support.
- Next step
- Keep the good source. Inspect the reported track and try a compatible local player before re-exporting.
Sound is distorted in the exported file
- Check
- The timeline mix and the original recording at the same moment.
- Next step
- Correct clipping or processing in the editor, then export once. Metadata edits cannot reverse clipped samples.
Sound changes only after publication
- Check
- The actual published post, any platform notice and the identified playback surface.
- Next step
- Separate the platform result from source preparation. Investigate the post instead of assuming the local file lost audio.
A track label is not a listening test
An audio codec name indicates that a track was identified; it does not prove that the samples contain audible sound. A track can consist of silence. Equally, “not available” in an incomplete report does not prove that the file has no audio.
Distinguish a verified absence from an inspection failure. If a local source audibly contains sound but a report is incomplete, retain both facts. Do not replace uncertainty with an invented codec or channel count.
| Observation | What it establishes |
|---|---|
| Audio track identified | A track was described by the inspection. |
| No audio stream in a successful inspection | That inspected file did not expose an audio stream. |
| Inspection failed | The audio properties remain unknown. |
| Audible sound at the tested moment | That playback path produced sound at that moment. |
Check synchronization over time
A constant offset and a growing drift are different symptoms. Use a visible event with a distinct sound, such as a clap, near the beginning and end. Avoid judging synchronization from a scene without a clear timing cue.
If the source drifts, inspect the edit’s timing and source interpretation. If only a browser preview drifts, test the exact local file separately. Report where the problem occurs instead of changing multiple export settings at once.
- Identify a clear visual and audible cue.
- Compare its timing near the start and near the end.
- Repeat on the same source in a separate local player.
- Record whether the offset is constant or grows.
- Change the responsible edit or playback path, then retest the same cues.
Know what preparation can preserve
Fulres aims to preserve the encoded sound supplied in supported media, with verification as part of preparation. Preservation is not enhancement: it does not normalize loudness, remove noise, generate sound or restore clipped peaks.
Keep the original recording and project if sound matters to the edit. For a failed preparation or a reproducible playback issue, note the exact file, stage and error so that the problem can be investigated without guessing.
