Getting started

Select a cover frame

Use the filmstrip to select the frame you want to represent your video.

For choosing the image shown before a video starts.

Understand the three parts of the cover editor

The vertical player shows decoded video. The filmstrip contains a small sample of frames to help you navigate. The slider and time readout identify your selected position. These parts serve different purposes: a filmstrip thumbnail is not a precise image of every available frame.

The preview can take a moment to seek, especially with large or highly compressed sources. Fulres queues the latest position while decoding is busy so a rapid drag does not repeatedly restart every seek. Wait for the final position before judging whether the chosen frame is clear.

Pick a moment that works at thumbnail size

Look for a clear subject, an expression or an object that identifies the video. Avoid a transition frame, a blink, motion blur or text that is only partly on screen. Check the framing at the small size viewers will actually see.

A visually dramatic frame can be a poor cover if its meaning depends on motion. Pause around the scene, move the slider a little earlier or later and compare the stable moments. The best choice depends on the content; there is no automatic engagement score in this control.

Use the slider with a pointer or keyboard

  1. Pause the video if you want to inspect a still moment.
  2. Drag the Cover slider to the approximate scene, then let the preview settle.
  3. For small adjustments, focus Choose cover frame and use the arrow keys. Read the time beside Cover after adjusting.
  4. Review a nearby frame if the first choice has motion blur or an interrupted expression.
  5. Keep the selected file and destination unchanged while reviewing the rest of the form.

The cover request depends on the destination

For direct publishing, Fulres sends the chosen position as a millisecond timestamp in the post information. TikTok’s API defines a fallback to the first frame if that timestamp is absent or invalid. Fulres validates that its selected time is within the inspected video duration.

Inbox delivery uses a different finishing flow. Open TikTok’s notification and choose the final cover there. The presence of a local picker should not be interpreted as confirmation that the inbox workflow will apply that timestamp.

What resets the choice—and what should not

Replacing the source file starts a new cover selection. Switching between workspace tabs should retain the video, slider time and post form. The player pauses when you leave Optimizer, rather than discarding the chosen media.

Reloading or closing the page can release the active file. History is not a stored video copy that can restore the selection. If browser playback fails, keep your original and test a compatible export instead of treating a missing preview as a completed cover upload.

  • The selected frame is clear as a small image.
  • The timestamp is inside the video duration.
  • You know whether the final cover is chosen here or in TikTok.
  • You review the published result rather than assuming the request proves it.
